5 posts · Joined 2004. #1 · Aug 28, 2004. This is probably a dumb question. When I picked up my new 04 1300 retro from the dealter a mechanic there told me never to use premium gas in the VTX 1300. To always use only regualr gasoline. The owners manual only says to use a minimum 86 octane. I have always used premium in my other bikes.

I've read that the only real way to get a wider rear MC tire on the 1300 is to do a Foot's Mod - which is replacing the 1300's wheel with that from an 1800C, which is 4.5" wide. Then you can run a 200 tire and actually realize the width gain. The caveat is that you have to use the 1800's brake caliper as well.Honda's profilation of this bike. It is totally open on the bottom so it always sucks a lot of air regardless of the butterfly opening. I love the look and get many compliments from veteran riders and curbside spectators.
