Good News....the original brake valve was rebuildable. It solved the entire problem and it stops great. No more wheel lock up. The JD 4020 is now ready to go back to work. Diesel won't start or hard to start. Fuel filter is dirty - Change the filter element. The fuel shut-off valve is closed - Open fuel shut-off valve. Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air. Hello all, Have a problem with my 4020. This past summer - if the tractor sat for more than 2-3 days...it wouldnt start. At the time - was a 24v system. 1st thing I did was replace the battery's - 2 brand new JD 12v's. The negative should go to the wire that is connected to ignition switch. I push the starter button and I hear the starter motor turning but the bendix does not engage the flywheel... or it is every so slightly engaging that it doesn't even sound like it's grinding. Then slide the outer quadrant back in and if possible, add an extra washer behind the snap ring to remove excess slop in quadrants. Rod #24 should not need adjustment if shifting was ok before the other rod broke.
